The University of Sussex is offering scholarships in the form of full fee waivers. These scholarships are awarded to suitably qualified and motivated individuals to study PhD programme in the School of Law Politics and Sociology.

Scholarship Award: Scholarships, in the form of full fee waivers, are available from September 2017 for a period of three years. There may also be an exceptional stipend of approximately £14,500 awarded to the best PhD applicant in the School.

Eligibility: Entry requirements for UK and international students are:
At least an upper second-class (2:1) undergraduate honours degree or equivalent international qualification
A Masters degree if you are applying for research degrees in the arts or social sciences, or an equivalent international qualification.
Nationality: UK and international students can apply for these scholarships.
College Admission Requirement
English Language Requirement: All teaching at Sussex is in the English language and applicants must therefore be sufficiently fluent in English to be able to benefit from their education. If applicant’s first language is not English, or they have not recently completed a degree in an English-speaking country, they will normally be expected to have passed an appropriate test in English, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), successfully pass applicants Pre-sessional English course, or have a qualification that confirms their English level. If applicant do not have evidence of appropriate English language ability at the point when applicants apply, this will normally form part of the conditions of any offer. IELTS- There are three different levels of English required for postgraduate study at Sussex, depending on their chosen course. In terms of IELTS, the standard requirement is IELTS 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in each section. However, for some degrees there is a higher-level requirement of IELTS 7.0 overall, with not less than 6.5 in each section and, for courses in mathematics and physics, a lower requirement of IELTS 6.0 overall, with 6.0 in each section. The detail of which English language level is required is listed for each course at Postgraduate study, given in terms of IELTS scores. Please check carefully to ensure they know the level of English required for their chosen degree.
How to Apply: Applications must submit a complete online application for a place to study for a PhD based in the School of Law, Politics and Sociology. LPS scholarship form must be sent via email only.
Application Deadline: To apply, applicants must have submitted an official online application for a place to study for the relevant PhD course at Sussex by March 13, 2017. The deadline for receipt of completed scholarship application forms is May 8, 2017.
